Last week Porsche unveiled one of its most powerful vehicles, the new Panamera Hybrid Sport Turismo hatchback. This hatchback sedan gets 680 total horsepower and 626 pound-feet of torque, making it more powerful than the 911 GT3 and the Cayenne Turbo SUV. The top speed is 192 mph and can reach 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. The Sport Turismo has a twin-turbo V8 combustion engine and a 136-hp electric motor. The lithium-ion battery takes 12 hours to fully charge. The vehicle offers different levels of efficiency and performance and can drive up to 30 miles on electric power alone.
The 2018 Panamera has a large, low tailgate and a high roofline with a large luggage space. Power adjustable roof spoiler moves automatically in correspondence with the speed of the car when it exceeds 55 mph. The US is Porsche’s largest market for turbos, with 25% of sales attributed to California alone. Base models start at $188,400 and deliveries will begin next spring.
